About the Journal
JIRAN: Journal of Southeast Asia Studies is an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed, open-access journal that aims to publish original research and critical scholarship on Southeast Asia. The journal welcomes contributions from scholars across disciplines who engage with the region’s rich and diverse societies, cultures, histories, and contemporary developments.
The journal seeks to become a platform for academic dialogue and knowledge exchange that deepens the understanding of Southeast Asia as a dynamic and interconnected region. Emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches, JIRAN is open to research from fields such as anthropology, history, sociology, political science, economics, cultural studies, religious studies, linguistics, environmental studies, and other related disciplines.
Publication Frequency:
JIRAN is published three times a year: April, August, and December.
